The first is a benefit for the Nevada Humane Society labeled “Tips for Pets” taking place at the Claim Jumper restaurant on Thursday, November 10th. The event is modeled after “Tip-A-Cop” where celebrity or honorary waiters and waitresses shadow the staff at the Claim Jumper in an effort to raise money and awareness for the many, many displaced pets residing at the shelter.
Each table will have an envelope placed on it after the celebrity server makes a brief introduction. Any donations left in the envelope are in addition to the regular server’s entitled gratuity and these funds stay right here in Reno and go directly to the Nevada Humane Society. This event will include members of the Nevada Air National Guard, Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, NHS board members and local media personalities who will be volunteering their time that evening.
In addition to all of the fun taking place inside the restaurant, there will be a pet food drive in the parking lot just outside. And to sweeten up the fundraiser that evening, all military veterans--currently serving or former--will received a free cupcake following their meal.
The event begins at 5:00 pm and goes until 9:00 pm on Thursday, Nov 10th. This marks our third year with teaming up with Claim Jumper for this cause where we can serve in a fun and rewarding capacity while providing assistance to the many homeless animals in Reno. (I am still recruiting media personalities to help out).
