RENO, Nev. -- Some local photography students are partnering with the Atlantis to help the families affected by the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.

They are donating their time and expertise to take portraits of local kids. It is a $10 donation per portrait, and all of that money goes to the Sandy Hook school fund set up by the United Way of Western Connecticut.

Organizer Sally Casas says the event is meant to honor children.

"We're just hoping we can give people memories they can keep, beautiful photographs and a the same time make money for the families that lost their children," said Casas.

The event is open to everyone. It runs from 10am to 3pm, Saturday, January 5th in the Emerald Room (Emerald A) at the Atlantis. Checks and credit card payments will be made from parents directly the United Way.
