Local charity STEP2 and Montrêux Golf and Country Club invite golfers to step foot on the private course to “Play Like the Pros” on Monday, May 21, 2012 before the Reno-Tahoe Open PGA TOUR.
Golfers who participate might not win the RTO $3 Million purse, but will have an opportunity to win great prizes and gain satisfaction in supporting STEP2’s mission to break the cycle of substance abuse among women and their children in our community. Shotgun scramble time is 10 a.m. The registration fee of $275 per player, $1,000 for a foursome or $1,200 for a foursome and hole sponsorship includes greens fee for 18 holes, a cart, entry bag, food throughout the day, beverages and a scoring ceremony barbeque. Hole sponsorships are also available for $250.
Registration during the event will include chair massages to get you warmed up, breakfast burritos donated by Nothing To It! and a Bloody Mary station donated by Moxie’s Spirit’s Dining and Gaming. Once on the field, golfers will enjoy a mini keg tour donated by the newest brewery, Brewer’s Cabinet and an unique opportunity to have a professional golf portrait with Pete Rezac Photography for a $20 donation. Boxed lunches will also be on the cart donated by Port of Subs and the Goddard School of Somersett.
The Reno-Tahoe Open will take place July 30-June 5, 2012 for its fourteenth consecutive year at Montrêux, the third longest course and rated 6th most difficult course on the PGA TOUR. This year’s format is a modified Stableford, the only of its kind on the PGA TOUR. STEP2 will be replicating this format, giving golfers a unique opportunity to play like the pros.
Since 1988, STEP2 has assisted more than 3,000 women and their children in our community with a current success rate of greater than 60%. STEP2 is the only treatment program in Northern Nevada, and one of few in the country that accommodates women with their children. The treatment model empowers each client to succeed and become a productive member of society while supporting her children for up to 18 months in a safe living environment.
