Pies with a Purpose, the Eddy House Fundraiser is this Sunday, April 28th from 4-7pm.
We've got some of Reno's best chefs doing their version of the pot pie in support of the cause. The Eddy House helps young adults who have aged out of the foster care system make a successful transition to independence. This transition is accomplished by providing a supportive living environment in which these young men have the opportunity to learn vital skills such as budgeting and time management, as well as a work experience program at a local restaurant in downtown called Z-Pie, where they learn to be responsible, reliable, and accountable employees capable of being recommended to other businesses in the future.
Young adults are the fastest growing population of homeless in our community, and with 70% of the youth who age out of the system ending up homeless or in jail after the first year of independence, this population is unfortunately a potential major contributor. Our goal is to help as many of these young adults as possible, but we cannot do it without the support of our community.
