Nevada Humane Society is asking animal lovers to join in helping raise $100,000 to provide care for homeless dogs and cats in our community by participating in the Walk for Animals on June 4 at the Sparks Marina.
The Walk event includes a two-mile fun walk, music, contests, face painting, pet services, refreshments and more. Four-legged walkers on leashes are welcome.
“Last year, we provided care and found new homes for 9,668 homeless pets and even more will need assistance this year. The average cost to save each animal is $240, which is why events like this are so important. Our homeless pets cannot care for themselves, therefore we do it for them,” said Bonney Brown, Executive Director of Nevada Humane Society.
The goal of the Walk is to raise $100,000 for the animals. Walkers are asked to seek pledges, and prizes are offered for those raising $30 or more, including Walk for Animals T-shirts featuring art by Pickles artist Brian Crane, sports bottles, supersize tote bags and mini digital cameras. The top fundraisers will even be given access to a VIP tent during the event.
Individuals who want to help raise funds but can’t take part in the walk can still gather donations that will go directly to homeless pets at Nevada Humane Society.
The Walk for Animals will be held on June 4, rain or shine, at the Sparks Marina. Registration runs from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Walk and other festivities begin at 9 a.m. Parking is free, located at 300 Howard Drive.
Registration instructions and additional event details are available on Nevada Humane Society’s website (www.nevadahumanesociety.org) You can register online as an individual or team walker. Once you have registered, you can create your own personalized page and then get the word out to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors etc. about your fundraising efforts to help the homeless animals in our community.
You can even form a team of friends and supporters who will join with you in this important event, and if your company has gift-matching, the donations can be doubled! Fundraising has never been easier—and don’t forget, you can receive great prizes too based on the donations received through your page!
