RENO, NV - The Nevada Humane Society is offering a special that's good only on Valentine's Day.
For just $14 you can adopt an adult cat or dog. (4 months and older, excluding specially priced dogs). But that's not all, you will also be given two "snuggies" and a box of chocolates.
Kimberly Chandler, with The Nevada Humane Society says the special is designed to help give homeless pets a place to be loved unconditionally, every day of the year.
There's many animals available for adoption at the shelter, including two brothers named "Dilly" and "Dudley." The brothers have been in the shelter since December. They're rat terrier mixes. When they first came to the shelter, they were very scared and shy. Now, they are playful and full of life. They need to be adopted together. They also need to go to a home without children. The duo can be adopted from the Humane Society on Longley Lane.
Some animals are in the shelter because their owners have passed away. Chandler says this can have a devastating effect on animals, because they just don't understand. This happened to two cats at the shelter, "Comet" and "Sassy." These cats need to be adopted together, because they have spent their whole lives together. They are older cats, but still full of love. One of them is having a hard time in the shelter, and they need to go to a home soon.
The Nevada Humane Society on Longley Lane will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 pm.
