RENO, Nev. — Back for a fourth year, Made In Reno — a showcase of the surprisingly strong talent brewing in the Biggest Little City’s music scene — will run March 30-31 in The Underground, 555 E. Fourth St. What’s more, the winning song from each night, as selected by a jury of entertainment professionals, will earn airplay on KDOT-FM 104.5 (“Rock 104.5”).
“This annual showcase of ambitious bands doing original music is Reno’s chance to reveal to the world our city’s great secret — the surprisingly potent songwriting and performing skills being developed here,” said promoter and event creator Michael Sion. “Some of these acts are veterans with regional followings. Others are young up-and-comers who, with the proper boost, are destined to make a big splash nationally and beyond.”
Sion added: “For the small admission of only $5 each night, the music fan will be treated to five to six bands, plus four to five solo artists performing between band sets. It’s the biggest bang for the entertainment buck all year.”
Reno’s music scene “is on the verge of becoming a regional force,” said Jave Patterson, operations manager with event co-sponsor Lotus Radio (KDOT-FM and KOZZ-FM).
“Since Rock 104.5 is waving the flag of new rock, we’re happy to champion our local music scene and its original music,” Patterson continued. “The culture in our radio studios is very local-music friendly. Many of our deejays have played in bands for years, and always have eyes and ears open for great talent.”
