As temperatures begin to decrease, Catholic Charities would like to remind the community that free blankets and coats are offered to those in need year round at the St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop.
Anyone in need can come to the store, located at 500 E. Fourth Street, and request their free blanket and/or coat.
The St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop has been offering this resource for several years, utilizing donated blankets, coats, and other clothing that come from individuals and businesses in the community year round.
In addition to clothing and blankets, Catholic Charities also offers a free nutritious meal to anyone in need, no questions asked, at the St. Vincent’s Dining Room, which is directly across the street from the St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop. This meal is provided at 11:30 a.m., Monday-Saturday, and consists of a main entrée, hot soup, milk, and other nutritious side items. No questions are asked and all are welcome.
“A blanket, coat, and/or hot meal can make a huge difference for someone in need, especially families who would go cold during the harsh winter months,” said Peter Vogel, executive director of CCNN. “We give away thousands of blankets a year, and served more than 17,000 people in the Dining Room just last month.”
If you are interested in donating, all blanket donations are tax-deductible and donation receipts are available at the Thrift Shop. For more information regarding blanket donations, contact James Baker at (775) 322-7073, Ext. 227 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
