The SPCA has a Live Release Rate of 99.4% meaning that almost every animal that comes to our shelter will leave to go to a forever home. Washoe County is one of the safest counties in the United States for a dog or cat to be lost, and is one of the leaders in the no-kill movement for implementing lifesaving programs.

The SPCA, founded in 1998, is Reno's original no-kill animal shelter. Its mission is to be an innovative regional leader in responsible treatment of homeless dogs and cats. Primarily through their rescue and placement in forever loving homes and by promoting spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation. The 501c3 non-profit organization accomplishes its mission with dedication to its core values and a lifetime commitment to its animals.
