Each year the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program presents an interactive, one hour interpretation of a Shakespeare Classic created with the young audience member in mind. Taking the work of the bard to several venues throughout the Reno/Sparks, Minden and Tahoe/Truckee area.
This free educational outreach program offers audience members a great live theatre experience and provides a wonderful opportunity to young aspiring actors from regional Middle and High Schools who, through auditions are selected to join a cast of professional actors, director and production team.
In our tenth season from August 1st - 11th D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program will be presenting eleven exciting, fun and interactive performances, telling the story of Viola, who after being shipwrecked in an unknown land and losing her twin brother Sebastian must pose as a man to survive. Twelfth Night is regarded as one Shakespeare's best comedies with mistaken identities, larger than life characters, and exciting swash buckling swordplay.
D. G Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program's Twelfth Night, co-directed by LTSF Director of Education/actor Joe Atack and LTSF Teaching Artist/actor Michelle Calhoun-Fitts will be a fun filled adventure for all the family set in the early 1900's. Audiences can expect to get involved in the action as the cast of professional and young actors bring some of Shakespeare's most wonderful characters to life.
All performances are FREE to young people of all ages and their chaperones. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and reservations are required for these performances.
