RENO, NV - Calling all creative kids! On Sunday, July 24 from Noon to 3 pm, come to Nevada Humane Society for the Creative Kids for Critters Event.
Kids can visit with cute cats, delightful dogs, beautiful bunnies and precious pocket pets then draw a picture of their favorite shelter pet for a chance to win awesome prizes like movies passes, mini cameras, and an I-Pod Shuffle.
Drawings will be judged according to age group and each entry will receive recognition. The drawings will be judged by Bob Lissner, President of Lifestyle Homes, local artist and NHS volunteer Natacha Sperka, and NHS Special Events Manager Lilli Walker. The completed art will be placed on display in the shelter through July 31.
“As adults, we see the beauty of these wonderful animals but I’m really looking forward to seeing the pets through the eyes of children, too,” explains Lilli Walker, Special Events Manager for Nevada Humane Society.
“As an added bonus, the homeless pets are sure to love all the attention from the boys and girls!”
Kids can also create Origami with artist and NHS volunteer Akemi Baerman as well as add their artistic flair to the courtyard sidewalk with Sidewalk Chalk Art. Parents can join in the fun too! All art supplies will be provided by Nevada Humane Society.
In honor of Artown, resident cats, kittens, and dogs will put their best paws forward (literally) and create some unique art. Be sure to come watch these “Petcassos” in action. You can see kittens and dogs create art work in the Education Room between 2 pm and 3 pm.
