“Most of the people I know would rather be working,” says Robert Terry.
Terry is getting a haircut for free. It’s been about four months since his last one. It’s been even longer since he’s lived in a house. He is homeless but it’s wasn’t always that way. Terry used to work as a material handler supplying parts to local businesses but in June, his unemployment benefits ran out.
We met Robert at the third annual Project Homeless Connect that took place at the Reno Events Center. Organizers expect more than 500 people to participate this year; that’s up from last year.
More than 50 providers took part in the event. Services provided included free dental care, clothes and flu shots.
