Care Chest of Sierra Nevada is a local organization that helps provide people with medical supplies, emergency prescriptions and other things people may not be able to afford otherwise.
On Thursday, they held their annual fundraiser, where they "kidnap" local executives and community members, and have them call friends and family to raise "bail" money.
This year, they're hoping raise $75,000. Two-thirds of that has already been donated.
Organizers say Care Chest of of Sierra Nevada has helped more than 10,000 people here in Reno with medical supplies in the past year alone.
"We are completely local, non-profit. The money is raised here, it stays here in Northern Nevada and helps people. It's not improbable that you either have been helped by Care Chest, or know someone who has," said Jon Killoran, President of the Board of Directors for Care Chest of Sierra Nevada.
