RENO, Nev. (AP) - Two hundred under-privileged children in the Reno-Sparks area are going to have a nicer Christmas again this year thanks to area businesses and the Washoe County Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association.
For the ninth year in a row, volunteers from the sheriff's office will be paired up with 200 local children in need to go on a shopping spree Tuesday night at the Wal-Mart Superstore on the city's south side.
Sheriff Mike Haley says each child will be allowed to spend up to $200 on clothes and toys for themselves as well as members of their family. Each child also will receive a $50 gift card specifically for groceries.
