Family Counseling Service’s Aly’s Prom Closet, a local program which provides financially challenged high school students the resources to ensure they can attend their high school prom, opened it’s doors on February 26th in Shoppers Square Mall in Reno. This is the 10th season for Aly’s Prom Closet serving students in the Reno-Sparks area.
In partnership with Shoppers Square Mall and other local service providers, Aly’s Prom Closet provides dresses, tuxedos, shoes, hair styles, make-up and other related services to make their special night memorable. Students are qualified for Aly’s Prom Closet through the high school counselors, based on financial need. Since its inception, Aly’s has assisted over 2,100 local students.
Aly’s Prom Closet will be open Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturdays from 12:00pm – 4:00pm, February 26th through April 30th, 2011.
Students seeking assistance should contact their high school counselor to see if they qualify for the program.
Aly's is accepting donations of gently used prom style dresses, tuxedos, shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories during store hours at the Shoppers Square location. Service donations of hairstyles, manicure/nails, flowers and dry-cleaning and cash donations to cover the costs of prom tickets and tuxedo rentals, are all still needed.
