Support Reno Police Department's K-9 Unit by going out to eat. Chili’s Restaurant on N. McCarran is hosting a "Tip-a-Dog" fundraiser for the department starting Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Four-legged officers and their partners will be at the restaurant to meet with the public.
The versatile unit plays an essential role in our community. RPD has one bomb dog and 5 canines that find drugs, track suspects, even search for weapons. The duties of the dogs are based on their natural instincts to hunt, but they train for 10 hours one day per week to be ready in the field. The K-9 Unit relies heavily on donations to cover the cost of training equipment, vet expenses, and other needs for the dogs.
You can help by going to this weekend's “Tip-a-Dog” event at Chili's on N. McCarran Friday and Saturday between 5:00 & 9:00 PM. On Sunday and Monday, if you eat at Chilis on Smithridge they will donate 10% of your total bill to the department.
