RENO - A local organization dedicated to creating a healthy and drug-free community got a nice boost Tuesday from an ironic source.

Join Together Northern Nevada Tuesday accepted a $20,000 donation from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. The money came from state forfeiture fund which typically come from assets siezed through drug cases. In the case of this donation, it was an unexpected windfall for this group.

"Sheriff Mike Haley contacted me one day and asked, 'what could you do with 20-thousand dollars?' " recalled Kevin Quint, JTNN executive director.

JTNN is for its honest and impactful advertising campaign that's called on the likes of Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and his own son to talk the impacts of drug addiction to families and the community overall. Qiunt says today's donation will go a long way in getting their message out.

"We're going to use it for education with parents, he said. "Were thinking about reaching out to parents who have children who are in trouble. Maybe even in the juvenile justice system."
