RENO - A Black Labrador Retriever Mix was shot and killed at Lakeridge Golf Course Monday morning. The golf course adopted 4-year-old Woody from the Humane Society to help chase geese off the property. Over the past two years, Woody had become popular with golfers, neighbors, and the staff. Around 8:30 AM, Woody was shot in the side as he and a caretaker were tending to the 18th hole. He died a few minutes later.
The man who was with Woody when he was shot says he couldn't tell where the shot came from. Police don’t know if the dog was shot with a gun or an air pistol, but they are eager to locate the shooter and press charges. Anyone with information about crime is asked to call the Reno Police Department.
