Faced with a state-revenue slump... Governor Jim Gibbons has ordered the heads of nearly all state agencies to find ways to cut almost 300-million dollars from the budget.

Gibbons wanted them to submit proposals to reduce their budgets by eight-percent.

While most turned the plans in on wednesday, Chancellor of the University and College system Jim Rogers, has been a vocal hold-out.

He says the current budget simply doesn't leave anything to cut.

Rogers says under-funded programs are already leading to the loss of many of nevada's top students and he says cutting the budget will only make the situation worse.

Chancellor Rogers met with the Governor on Monday to plead his case for leaving the university and college budgets unharmed, but the two were unable to come to an agreement.
