An attempted shooting in the parking lot of a Mormon church in Northwest Reno turned out to be the final straw for residents in the neighborhood.
They say it's actually the second shooting incident at that location and just the latest example of the rowdy activity they say they've often seen at the church on Kings Row.
Witnesses say the problem often starts with a church sponsored dance or activity, but after chaperones leave teens will return to the parking lot to drink, party and play loud music. That keeps restless neighbors up all night.
They say they've reached out to the church asking it to patrol the property, but the situation continues to get worse instead of better.
Monday some neighbors organized to lodge a formal complaint with the reno police department.
Now patrols are talking to residents hoping to alleviate tension
Neighbors say they don't have a problem with the Mormon church, but are concerned about what's going on in the parking lot.
They say under-age drinking, drug exchanges, loud music and even dangerous driving are creating an unbearable situation.
Most neighbors suggest fencing off the property to keep out unwanted partiers and vandals.
Police agree that increasing security measures could help keep the peace.
