The Reno Aces are now officially halfway through the first season in their new ballpark. So far, despite a struggling economy many small businesses in the downtown corridor say they are seeing an increase in foot traffic on game days.

- Dog Killed on Golf Course
A Black Labrador Retriever Mix was shot and killed at Lakeridge Golf Course Monday morning. The golf course adopted 4-year-old Woody from the Humane Society to help chase geese off the property.

- Crash Victims Identified
The Douglas County Sheriff's office has identified some of the victims from a small plane crash in Gardnerville Saturday. The identities of the pilot and one male victim have been withheld until family members can be contacted.

- Douglas High Swimmer Remembered By Friends
Molly Lahlum died early Thursday morning after collapsing during a swim meet April 7th. After more than a week on a ventilator, the Douglas High Student looked to be making improvements. She seemed responsive and no longer needed the machine. In an unexpected turn, she slipped away early Thursday morning around 3:00 AM. On the family's web page her father wrote, "She went very peacefully, and it was not traumatic for her at all." Her mother was by her side.

- Reno Family Loses Everything in Fire
It started as a quiet morning for one Reno family on Cordone Ave., as they settled in to enjoy a March Madness match-up Friday. Things changed suddenly when they noticed flames racing along the back patio and creeping into their house. "All the sudden my son said I can hear something snapping and crack,” described Shirley Lucas, who lived in the house. “We looked out at the back, and it was on fire just completely. It was going right up the wall."

- Highest Unemployment Rate for Nevada in 24 Years
Nevada's unemployment rate jumped to 8 percent for the month of November. That's the highest it has been since February 1984. It’s also higher than the national average of 6.7 percent. According to the State Department of Employment 111,700 Nevadans are without work this holiday season, and those numbers are expected to grow in the New Year.

- Catherine Wyman Gets 15 Year Sentence
A woman recently convicted of murdering her toddler son J.W. Bader more than thirty years ago has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison. A jury found Catherine Wyman guilty of second degree murder in June. In a Washoe county court this morning, Judge Jerome Polaha handed down her sentence.
