The Department of Business & Industry (B&I) is holding a Thanksgiving food drive beginning on Monday, November 9, to help needy families during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Canned and boxed food is being collected.
Donations will be accepted during business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting Monday, November 9, through Friday, November 20, 2009. To distribute the donated items, B&I is partnering with HELP of Southern Nevada (HELP) in the south and Friends in Service Helping (FISH) in the north. The food collected will be distributed by HELP and FISH to struggling Nevadans during Thanksgiving week.

Charlene Oakes, Master Gardener Charlene will discuss fall fertilizing, thatching, aerating, mulching and snow issues. Organic vs. chemical treatments will also be covered. Bring a 12"X 12" moist (not wet) sample, 4-6" deep, half good grass, half problem area if you want to discuss a specific lawn problem with Charlene at the end of the seminar.
All seminars are free and held at Moana Nursery, 1900 W. Moana Lane in our Landscape Design Center. Seminars begin promptly at 10 a.m. and last one hour. Please arrive 15 minutes early, as seating is limited to 60 and is first come, first served.

There is a rare opportunity coming this October for project managers in Northern Nevada who want to achieve international certification as either a Project Management Professional (PMP®) or a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®). Twice a year the Northern Nevada Chapter of the Project Management Institute provides the only PMP Prep course in Northern Nevada that is taught by more than ten local PMPs.
