In a show of solidarity for all those affected by climate change, California Interfaith Power & Light (CIPL) has joined forces with 500 congregations of all faiths. This mobilization includes committed, practical action in terms of energy reduction, energy efficiency and sustainable energy measures, bridging cultural and religious divisions. Nationally, the Interfaith Power & Light campaign is active in 30 states, working with a powerful force of over 10,000 congregations.
“Every major faith tradition calls on its followers to be faithful stewards of Creation, the web of life that surrounds us, and binds us to each other and to our planet,” says the Rev. Canon Sally Bingham, Founder and President of CIPL. “Global warming is a direct threat to Creation, and it is our goal to educate and engage our congregants to take personal and collective action to reduce global warming emissions. It is our moral responsibility to protect our planet.”

The Department of Business & Industry (B&I) is holding a Thanksgiving food drive beginning on Monday, November 9, to help needy families during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Canned and boxed food is being collected.
Donations will be accepted during business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting Monday, November 9, through Friday, November 20, 2009. To distribute the donated items, B&I is partnering with HELP of Southern Nevada (HELP) in the south and Friends in Service Helping (FISH) in the north. The food collected will be distributed by HELP and FISH to struggling Nevadans during Thanksgiving week.

Western Insurance Company has teamed with A and H Insurance Agency and Western Thrift and Loan in hosting their first annual food drive benefiting the Evelyn Mount Community Outreach Program.
Employee volunteers of Western Insurance Company, A and H Insurance Agency and Western Thrift and Loan, will be collecting food on Tuesday November 10, 2009 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Western Insurance Company parking lot, located at 675 W. Moana Lane, Reno.
Volunteers will be in the parking lot to collect your donation; you don't even have to leave your car! Please join us in our efforts, on Tuesday November 10, 2009 - our goal....to make sure all local families have a meal this holiday season.
