Carson City Honors Our Troops

This coming weekend, we're turning out to show support for the men and women who fight for our freedom, and to raise money for a worthy cause.

Carson City Honors Our Troops is a series of special events scheduled in Nevada's capital from May 16th through the 18th, 2008. It includes a reception for the troops, a special military exhibit at the Nevada State Museum, a pancake breakfast, a parade (beginning with a hot air balloon launch), a new and classic car show, an arts and crafts show, a fashion show and an invitational dinner and dance at the Governor's Mansion.

KOLO 8 News Now is a proud sponsor of Carson City Honors Our Troops. You'll see our staff members involved in various aspects of the weekend, including John Tyson in the parade and Brent Boynton emceeing the dinner and dance.

The organization behind Carson City Honors Our Troops is the Carson City chapter of Operation First Response. OFR supports returning servicemen and women who have been wounded in their service to our country. The businesses selling goods and services at the event will all contribute a percentage to Operation First Response to assure that our support of our wounded troops is more than just lip service. The parade and other events of this weekend will also serve as a collective pat on the back, honoring active and former servicemen and women with a highly visible "thank you."
