DINSMORE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say two people are hurt in a
small plane crash at a remote Humboldt County airport.
The aircraft went down shortly before 12:30 p.m. near the public
airport, east of Dinsmore near the border of Humboldt and Trinity
counties.
Humboldt Sheriff's Lt. Steve Knight says the plane hit
nose-down. He says both people on board at the time were injured,
but he didn't immediately know the nature of their injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol's website, flames
were visible at the wreckage site.
The Record-Searchlight of Redding reports that a 65-year-old man suffered major facial injuries and managed to escape before the fire engulfed the wreckage.
Jacquelyn Hulsey, who manages the county's six airports, says
emergency personnel had a hard time reaching the site quickly
because it's so remote.
