SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has named his selections to a new council overseeing the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
On Friday, Schwarzenegger announced four appointees to the seven-member Delta Stewardship Council. They are: Francis Randall Fiorini, former Democratic state Assemblyman Phil Isenberg, Henry Nordhoff and Richard Roos-Collins.
The president pro tem of the Senate and the Assembly speaker, both Democrats, each get one appointment. The seventh seat is held by the chair of the existing Delta Protection Commission.
The council was created under water legislation Schwarzenegger signed last year. It seeks to change how California uses and transports water and restore the fragile delta ecosystem.
