LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (AP) - Evacuations are under way in Los Angeles-area foothill areas threatened by mudslides as another winter storm approaches.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have been going door to door Tuesday in La Canada Flintridge and other communities, urging people to leave more than 540 homes. Those that refuse must sign waivers.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch and says the storm could dump more than an 2 inches of rain.
People in La Canada Flintridge have loaded their cars with clothing and personal items and are heading down a road coated in dried mud from a weekend slide that damaged 43 homes.
But others are refusing to go. Vachik Salemi told KTLA-TV that he had been evacuated about six times but his home was spared any damage and he intends to stay.
