SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A 36-year-old woman has died after she
was struck several times while retrieving boxes on a Sacramento
freeway.
California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Lizz Dutton says the woman
walked onto eastbound Interstate 80 to try and get several boxes of
clothes that had fallen from her car Saturday.
She was hit by an approaching car whose driver did not see her. The impact propelled the woman into another lane where she was hit by other oncoming vehicles.
Authorities have not released the name of the woman.
She was a passenger in a blue Mitsubishi Eclipse. The driver pulled over to the shoulder after the boxes fell. He was not injured.
