MARYSVILLE, Calif. (AP) - Air Force officials say an airman who allegedly killed his fiancee in Marysville before dying in a shootout with officers had recently been disciplined by the military.
Officials at Beale Air Force Base, where 21-year-old Ian York had been stationed since December 2007, say he had received disciplinary action for an unnamed offense, resulting in him losing access to his firearm.
On Saturday night, York's fiancee, 19-year-old Kelly Roome, was found shot to death in his Marysville apartment. Another airman was shot in the leg.
Authorities caught up to York 12 hours later in Santa Clara, where he died in a shootout with local police.
A 9mm Glock pistol was recovered from York; Beale officials say the Air Force issues M9 pistols.
The case remains under investigation by Marysville police.
