FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Fresno city officials are considering entering into a partnership with a troubled downtown museum.
The city council is expected to meet next Tuesday to vote on terms of a deal with the Fresno Metropolitan Museum that will likely see the city become the museum's landlord.
The Met has seen donations dry up, had trouble refinancing loans and is operating in the red since it reopened in November after a $28 million renovation.
It has also defaulted on a $15 million loan. The city council guaranteed that loan, and city officials say they will pay it off. The loan must be repaid by July 15.
