SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP)- A former school superintendent has been
sentenced to six months in jail for possession of child pornography.

A Sonoma County judge says 54-year-old Craig Benedict Lee must register as a sex offender but will be eligible to serve his sentence in a work-release program.

Lee was arrested in April 2007 after his girlfriend stumbled into photographs of children involved in sex acts while she was cleaning the house. After confronting Lee, she called police and turned over the pictures.

Lee pleaded no contest in March to a child pornography possession charge.

Lee was superintendent of the Lagunitas School District in Marin County from July 2006 until his arrest. Earlier, he was a school principal.

A message left for Lee's attorney was not immediately returned.
