SACRAMENTO (AP) - Two brothers from Reno - one a former cook at
a federal prison - have pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to smuggle tobacco products to inmates.

Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old Michael Megill sneaked chewing and smoking tobacco into the Federal Correctional Institution at Herlong, California, and left it hidden for inmates.

His brother, 32-year-old Jeremy Megill, arranged for payments from inmates' families for the deliveries. The brothers charged up to $500 for a delivery and may have collected as much as $3,000.

The pair pleaded guilty Friday in Sacramento federal court to conspiracy to bring the illegal tobacco products into the medium-security prison in Lassen County, California.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 8. The conspiracy charge carries a maximum five-year prison term.
