ELKO (AP) - With work on the building itself is all but completed, officials now are considering exhibits for the California Trail Interpretive Center near Elko.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management will hold a workshop on May
12 to discuss proposed interpretive exhibits at the center, which
is expected to fully open to the public in 2010.

Center manager Dave Jamiel says the workshop will give the public a chance to comment on the content of the center's future exhibits.

The workshop will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the trail center, located along Interstate 80 about eight miles west of Elko.

The center will feature exhibits on the 19th century westward migration by covered-wagon pioneers, including ones on the California Gold Rush and the ill-fated Donner Party.

It also will feature a map of various trails followed by pioneers and a theater devoted to oral histories by American Indians.
