LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say a Maywood woman has been rescued
after she was kidnapped and brutalized for 16 days.

The FBI tracked a cell phone used by her ex-boyfriend to a South Los Angeles dance hall yesterday and rescued the 20-year-old woman.
Police said she'd been starved and repeatedly raped but she was
released from a hospital today in good condition.

Authorities say the woman vanished on April 16 but managed to sneak her ex-boyfriend's phone and call a friend. She was able to call several more times during her captivity but couldn't describe where she was being held. Finally, the FBI was called in about four days ago and used special equipment to track the cell phone.

The woman's ex, 35-year-old Porfiro Izaguirre, was arrested for
kidnapping, rape and false imprisonment. He remains jailed.
