Brianna Denison: A Killer Still On The Loose.

pass by the site where Brianna Denison’s body was found every day on my way to and from work and each time it always draws my attention knowing what happened there, as before the incident, the patch of barren waste-land did not warrant a second glance.

Working in the media, we are always looking for that next story to cover and pass onto the mass public, but passing Brianna’s last resting place makes me realize each and every day and night we still have many unfinished stories, some of which might never be fully completed, but the realistic truth with this particular story is that there is a killer still on the loose, possibly within our midst’s.

Every day children and adults alike go missing for a magnitude of reasons; Brianna Denison's story only highlights so many similar stories from around the world and withing our local community.

You can walk into numerous stores in Reno and Sparks and see bullitin boards crammed with missing person's reports, but how long do really stop and take in the information posted?

For many of you that do not know Brianna’s story this is what happened thus far:

(Except from: Reno Police Bulletin, Official Publication of the Reno Police Department.)
Michael Poehlman, Chief of Police, April 2, 2008

‘On January 20, 2008, Brisanna Denison, 19 years old, disappeared from 1395 Mackay Court in Reno, Nevada. On February 15, 2008, Brianna was found deceased in a vacant field on Sandhill Drive in southeast Reno, the apparent victim of strangulation.’

The community came together is such a tremendous way, holding rallies and candle light vigils and the media had daily updates, but my question is: where is that community spirit and news coverage now?

At the height of the incident, the police and media alike where imitated with phone calls and e-mails from people who felt that they had a tip to the crime, the where-abouts of the killer etc., but where are those calls and e-mails now, where are the possible suspect spottings etc.?

Brianna Dennison’s killer to date has not been apprehended and we still do not know if this was a random act with the intent to murder or a rape gone wrong.

As time moves on and as Denison’s killer is still on the loose we do not know if he might possibly strike again, and as time progresses and we as a community forget, it increases the chances that he might.

The reason I feel I am so passionate about this particular case is due to the fact that two months before moving to live and work in the U.S. a very close and personal friend of mine was murdered in her family home, stabbed to death over 60 times. The killer was a long time family friend who had had an obsession with her for many years.

So don’t forget, remember Brianna Denison and what she stands for.

What I put to you is, ‘as the media, what more do you feel we could do in cases such as this as time passes on? And what more would you like to hear from police?’

heart felt appreciation for those silent professionals that know their jobs so well. It was predicted by many that this would happen just as it did, even those around him had no clue until they started to look at the suttle little things that appeared innocent but had guilt stained deep into it's existance. forever is alot longer than some of us may comprehend.Forensic psyc's are gonna twist this dudes walnut(brain) into a bean sized turd. Jury selection. Good JOb ! to those silent professionals.

I am very grateful and yet overwhelmed with the capture of Bri's killer and other rape victims. Closure? Maybe, yet never for a family or friends, however awareness has increased and provided a chance for a community to come together and try to help in a situation. Thanks to all that helped in the search! (UNR student)
