Learning My Way Around The Slopes of The Sierra Nevada

If you have read any of my previous blog postings, you will have gained the gist that I’m British and learning my way around Reno slowly but surely..... in this adventure i finally managed to go snowboarding!

After now living in Reno, (and for that matter the US), for just over a year, I decided I really had to make the effort to make it to a ski resort here in the Sierra Nevada, considering I look at them every day i walk out my front door.

Well I finally did it and managed to escape for a day........

Well it was truly a memorable day........ Snowboarding at Squaw Valley !

The last time I had hit the slopes of a ski resort was when on holiday with my family when I was about fourteen years old in ..... So to say the least, a long time ago!

Jump ahead thirteen years..... I spent most of the day sitting on my bum or face planted in snow......

I was lucky enough to have some time to join my girlfriend who was filming a snowboarding segment at Squaw Valley, for the travel show she co-host's.

I really had a macho approach set in mind that i was going to become the next world snowboarding champion in one day after just a couple of hours worth of lessons...... little did i know!!

However, after my experiences of learning to ski in , not understanding a word of the ski instructors who spoke just, German the snowboarding lesson I received at Squaw Valley was top notch!

Squaw Valley compared to all of my best memories of Austrian Ski resorts! The staff at Squaw where exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to please and make the whole experience an awesome memory!

If there is anywhere you recommend I try out..... feel free to let me know...........

But, i definetly recommend to anyone who has not tried out Squaw Valley to try it out........
