KUDOS…..…..to the Wolf Pack. They blew out rival UNLV 37-0 on Saturday…the first time anyone has been shutout in the series. It was also their seventh straight win over the Rebels. UNLV is a mess, with no signs of improvement. Nevada may win another 4-5 in a row. …..to Tyler Lantrip. The Nevada senior was benched for the first time this year, giving way to Cody Fajardo’s first career start. Fajardo struggled, and Lantrip came in and responded with the best game of his career. He passed for 366 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Lantrip is not Kaepernick, and should not be asked to run the offense the same way. Coach Ault opened up the passing game against the Rebels, playing to Lantrip’s strength. Fajardo’s a runner, Lantrip’s a passer and BOTH will play in a timeshare for the rest of the season. ….to the Pack fans. No it wasn’t a sellout, but it was a raucous and exciting environment. You were loud and proud on Saturday. Let’s keep it up. We all expected the Pack to open the season 1-3, and they nearly upset a pretty good Texas Tech team in Lubbock. Now they have five of their final seven games at home….six of them against WAC teams. Nevada could run the table, win the conference, and go back to another bowl game. Keep the faith and back the Pack! …..to the Bay Area football teams. Both are playing really well after years of mediocrity and downright bad play. Jim Harbaugh is my candidate for Coach of the Year. He’s got the 49ers off to a 4-1 start and sits all alone in first place by two games in the NFC West. Hue Jackson has the Raiders playing inspired football. They’re 3-2….with close losses to the Patriots and the Bills. Not too shabby. …..to Tim Tebow. He came into the Broncos-Chargers game and inspired a team, a town and a rabid fan base. Tebow came off the bench and led the Broncos on a pair of touchdown drives in the final 8 minutes, narrowly missing a two-point conversion that would have tied the game. Then he led the them 51 yards in the final :30 seconds, giving them a chance with a Hail Mary at the buzzer. It fell incomplete, but it didn’t matter to Broncos fans. They left the stadium re-invigorated and excited about their team. If Tebow is not the starter from here on out, it’d be a travesty. So long Kyle Orton….he won just six of his last 27 starts in Denver. He should never start another game for the Broncos. …..to the Lions and Bills. Two teams that have struggled the last several years are now two of the best in the NFL. |
