Where are you Wolf Pack fans?  The basketball team is enjoying their best season in years, but no one is watching.

Nevada is averaging under 4,000 fans per home game this season (Lawlor's capacity is about 11,000) despite the fact they are currently on a 12-game winning streak.  It's a baffling statistic to the team and their head coach.

"Clearly we want our fans to be here, we want them to support us because we are doing a lot of good things," said senior captain Dario Hunt.  "We always joke around that it prepares us for our neutral-game sites."

"Just like Utah State," added senior forward Olek Czyz..  "You go into their environment and it's a very tough environment.  We'd like Nevada to be just like that."

It's an environment that Nevada invaded this season, and walked out with a win; the first WAC team to win in Logan since 2007, snapping the Aggies' 33-game home winning streak against conference foes.  Yet the support for Nevada remains lacking.

"We haven't had fans all (season) and we're 15-3, so I think we're okay," said head coach David Carter.

Coach Carter has to be one of the most affable, likable coaches I have ever met.  But it's clear the lack of support is wearing on him too.

"Things you can't control, you can't worry about.  We can't worry about who's at the game, how many people are at the game," Carter added.  "We average 4,000 fans or 5,000.  If we're fortunate to go to the postseason, we'll get 5,000 tickets.  Don't get 10,000 tickets for people who weren't there."

Of course Nevada does have a die-hard fan-base, but the casual fan is not coming out.  That's across the board, not just for basketball games.  Last season, the Wolf Pack football team enjoyed their greatest season ever, winning 13 games, a share of the WAC title and finishing the year ranked 11th overall in the AP poll.  But still, no one came.

For example, Nevada entered the Associated Press Top 25 football poll on October 4th; the first time they had been ranked in 62 years.  The very next game, they drew about 20,000 fans (counted, but by looking at the stands, it was more like 16,000)....a good 10,000 shy of a sellout.  That is just ridiculous.

We, as a community, need to get out there and support our local team.  Trust me, you're missing a great show.
