I realize this is the age of technology. The times are a changing, and so are the ways that we communicate with each other.  But I have a bone to pick - with LOL!

It's the new wave of answering pretty much any text.  LOL (Laugh out Loud!)  It seems like these three letters are the corresponding answer to anything ever written.

"I hate Mondays!" - LOL!  "I use to be faster." - LOL!  "I just had a haircut." - LOL!

Really? This must be the most overused acronym ever.  It's become the new exclamation point.....used on every phrase, everywhere!!!!!!

You know these people really aren't laughing.  Maybe 1 out of every 100 LOL's really represent true laughter.  It's gotten so bad, people actually text sentences and end it with "LOL."   This is like the guy who says something, then laughs at his own statement before anyone else does.

I've been texting a lot more in the last few years (a late bloomer.) And I know that it's the wave of the future (and the present.)  But whatever happened to actually talking to each other in complete sentences?  Sometimes I don't even know what someone is saying to me!  I actually read a website post one time that said "OMG IMHO that was wrong.  The only part I understood was "That was wrong." (Translated it meant: "Oh my God, in my humble opinion, that was wrong.")

I'm trying to catch on, but it drives me bonkers.  LOL is the face of this de-personalization of communication.  It's not evil, but it's lame.

I don't know why it bothers me so much.  It's really a pet peeve more that anything else.  But I vow never to LOL.  Whatever happened to "Funny!"  From now on, that's my LOL - "Funny!."
