I thought this was the land of the free. I thought people were allowed to chase their dreams, raise families and be happy. I guess I was wrong.
This latest story of bigotry got me really pissed off.
Two people were in love and wanted to get married. The problem? They were of different ethnicities (How dare they!) A Louisiana Justice of the Peace refused to issue them a marriage license.
Keith Bardwell told the AP that , in his experience, most interracial marriages do not last long. "I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way." Yeah Keith, you’re quite the humanitarian.
He claimed to be looking out for the couple’s potential children; that it would not be fair for them to grow up “mixed.”
Keith Bardwell needs to go….and he also needs to move into the 21st century. He should lose his job at the very least. I have several friends from “mixed” marriages….and our current President is also an offspring from different parents.
There’s no room for Bardwell in this America. He can have his views, but he needs to do his job or lose it. He should be ashamed of himself.
