You know, every once in awhile you just need to get away.  Even for one day.  When I want out of the daily grind I try and bail to the great outdoors.  And one of my favorite places is on the water.  That’s why, when my boss told me it was my assigned week for our new series “Day Trippin’” I hit the American River .

Having grown up in Auburn , the river was a typical hangout.  In fact, when I was in high school two of my childhood friends flipped their boat on the river – and were lost overnight!  Sacramento television stations had their helicopters hovering over the banks looking for them… thank goodness this story has a good ending!  Both are responsible fathers today.

Anyways… I had a wonderful “day at the office.”  My boat consisted of a family from Reno (Lori and Russ Walker and their son Ryan Jarvis) who I just met on this trip… and our guide Dave Lewis (aka Zonker).  We had the best time!  I made new friends, and splashed around in the water a bit.  I’ve attached photos from the day – both professional, and ones I took with a disposable camera.
