So first thing’s first… since none of you will really be seeing me on camera, I wanted to share a little about me… one of the producers for the Daybreak Show!

I joined the team just over a couple months ago.  I studied at both Florida State University (Go ‘Noles!) and the University of Central Florida , graduating with a TV/Radio Communications degree in December ‘99. I’ve done television, radio, and theatre almost all my life, for play and profession, and I have always known this was in my blood! So how did I get here?

I moved here from Florida almost 2 years ago, where the market is more than tough. In turn, I dabbled in a few other professions. In Orlando , I was first a bartender and then manager at Outback Steakhouse.  I then moved to Jacksonville , and entered the post production world of television.  After a crazy but fun filled couple of years in J-Ville, I transferred back to Orlando , real estate license in hand. I sold new homes, mortgages, and then pursued general real estate. I loved it, but commutes, hours, and all the craziness involved led me to “want out” after a few years. And at that time, I knew Orlando was no longer the place for me.

I wasn’t sure where to head… I toyed with the idea of the coastal Carolinas , heading back home to south Florida , or maybe to southern California .  I even contemplated my old stomping grounds of Maine and New England , where I was born… but decided it was too cold.  Eventually my Dad made notion of coming to stay with him here in Reno for a while, and decide from there. Road trip!

I did have a hard time leaving my good friends in Orlando, my girls, the beach, the sun, shopping, and all of the quaint restaurants and café’s downtown. I even started doubting my decision. Orlando had become somewhat of a home for me. But I knew I could visit. I moved everything I owned to south Florida , to my mom’s, and then crammed as much into my little Audi as I could.  Mind you, this included my mom and my cats! We took an extended road trip across the country, stopping to visit lots of great cities, winding up in Reno .

And here I am! I was set up with a temporary job and figured I would be here for a few months. But apparently my Dad, along with a few others, had a plan to set me up with a fabulous man and keep me here. It worked! Now that wonderful man, Brandon, is a very important part of my life. I knew if I stayed I wanted my career back, and so I jumped into broadcast journalism.  Orlando is 19 in a market of 150, so it was virtually impossible for me to get in back East… but here I got lucky. I love it and am very thankful.

In turn, love may have kept me here, but now I have the career to go with it.  I consider the fact I can learn all aspects of news a blessing. The early mornings are an adjustment, but it doesn’t stop me from having a good time. I hope one day you will maybe see me on camera, but if not, just learn a little more about me and our production here!
