It was clear pretty early on that agility and grace escaped me. After years of avoiding team sports, high heels and narrow ledges I’ve embraced my clumsiness. So when the opportunity arose to participate in a dancing contest to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Nevada Office, I was hesitant.

But  after weeks of practice, it seems my fears were unfounded. It’s true, with the right teacher anyone can dance; even me. My patient insturctor at Gemini Ballroom, Chris Martin has suffered through crushed toes, and kicked shins with a smile on his face. Throughout the lessons he reassures me saying “you’re doing great,” even when I’m not .

The event at the Peppermill is just a few days away now, and my terror at dancing in front of an audience is slowly turning to excitement. Once reluctant to attempt the steps, now I feel grateful for the experience. I can dance, and in the end this event is about giving that gift to others. Money raised at the “Dancing with Our Reno Celebrity Stars” event will help the MS Society put an end to a disease that stops people from moving. That’s something to celebrate.

Please join us at the show Sunday, March 28th at 2:00 PM, at the Peppermill.

I saw your dance and you did really good. It takes guts to do what you did....I wouldn't be able to do it. Good job! And you looked great in the dress.
