A list of the 2010 Slam Dunk competitors were released on Monday.....and LeBron James is not on that list. The so-called "King" told reporters at last year's dunk contest that he would do it this season.  But he has apparently reneged on that promise.

Instead of LeBron, we get Gerald Wallace (a really good player, but not the star of a LeBron.) We also get two-time champ Nate Robinson, who doesn't even play very much for the Knicks.  Whatever happened to the good old days of Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins and Dr. J?

The Slam Dunk competition used to be the most exciting event of any All-Star weekend in any sport.  Now, it's rather lame.  The NBA needs LeBron to live up to his word, put on a show, and bring some sizzle back to the event.

If he really is the "King".....he needs to show it.  The fans want to see it.  And it'd be a way to give back to the fans and the league that has made you rich and famous; setting up your family (financially) for the rest of your life.

Do the right thing LeBron.  Every other superstar has done it in the past. Kobe did it a few years ago.  Why can't you.  It'll only take about an hour of your life, and it will give your numerous fans a lifetime of memories.

Not to mention Nike.  YOUR sponsor!  I'm sure they would love to promote you in the dunk contest.  Maybe even make a new commercial of your dunks side-by-side with Jordan's.  I'd be all for it just to get rid of those lame "puppet" commercials. 

As Nike might say, "Just DUNK it LeBron!"
