We all tuned in on June 7th for the Belmont Stakes....Big Brown going for the first Triple Crown in 30 years. Instead, he wound up dead last out of 9 horses. And that's exactly what everyone wanted. If he would have won the Belmont, then the allure for next year's Kentucky Derby would be gone. It's quite a feat, one we haven't seen since Affirmed in 1978. How many people would watch next year if Big Brown did it? The reason we're drawn is because no one ever does it. It was the prefect scenario. Have a horse win the first two legs, and watch the media and endorsements invade Belmont for wall-to-wall coverage. Since he lost the last leg of the Crown, we can all do it again next year. Thanks Big Brown, for getting us to pay attention...and not ruining the impact of next year's races.
