First off, the Wolf Pack-Boise State game was phenomenal. ESPN has already dubbed it an "Instant Classic" for good reason. But the system is flawed. I like the fact that each team gets a chance to have the ball, but starting on YOUR OPPONENT"S 25 yard line is lame. On the very first snap, you're already in field goal range. That leads to 3 + overtime games that run forever.
Why not start on YOUR OWN 25 yard line? Each team gets a chance to have the ball....but they have to produce a drive of their own to get into scoring position. The argument against this idea is that games will go on forever. But I think that by giving each team the ball that close to the end zone leads to even longer games. Ask anyone who saw the Wolf Pack marathon.
Another issue are the stats. Anyone who gets that many opportunities in the Red zone can pad their TD's stats. They should not count towards regular season statistics. It's extra time that other players do not get. What if Darren McFadden scores 6 touchdowns in a 6 overtime game? The stats look great.....hello Heisman. Not fair to another worthy candidate who made his resume during the 60 minutes slotted for a college football game.
like the current college overtime system much better than the NFL's. But it needs work!

P.S. The very first college overtime game was back in the 1995 Las Vegas Bowl. Nevada lost to Toledo 40-37.
