With Reno's unemployment rate an alarming 11 percent, I want to share some information on a couple of events that may help job-seekers.

First, according to the Reno Gazette Journal's Web site, today (March 10) FedEx Kinkos is offering to copy your resume for free.  Link to RGJ.com for locations.

Additionally, today a job fair is being announced -- and it appears hundreds are already making plans to attend.  National Careers says it is holding a Career Fair March 20 at the Grand Sierra Resort from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  According to National Careers, 559 people have registered.

National Careers sent me this list of companies/organizations that are looking to hire:
Avon
Career College of Northern Nevada
COUNTRY Financial
Edward Jones
Gentiva Health Services
Nevada Army National Guard
Rite of Passage
Sierra Nevada College
STS Staffing
U.S. Border Patrol
US Navy
Wells Fargo Financial

If you may know of any organizations that are hiring or helping job-seekers, by all means, add a comment to this blog.  Here at KOLO-8 we want to keep you informed about the state of the economy, but also provide as much information as possible to help you weather the storm.

There is an organization through JOIN (Job Opportunities in Nevada) that oversees a program for unemployed professionals seeking work, it is called ProNet. It is worth looking in to. It helps to bring professionals up do date on resumes, job searching skills, etc. Contact JOIN for more information.
