For those of you who heard something unusual during the 11 p.m. newscast on Wednesday, you weren’t imagining things.

The newscast started off normally.  I took my place on the set next to Terri Russell and was ready to deliver my story about Senator Obama’s half-hour prime-time ad.  Right after Terri tossed to me and I began speaking, there was a loud ‘pop’ and flash of blue light.  I continued to introduce my taped piece, and made no mention of the strange, and very loud, sound.  Once my microphone was cut and we were showing viewers my previously taped story, I immediately asked the floor crew: ‘what happened?’

It turns out a light near the weather center burned out, exploding during the live newscast!  The glass bulb fortunately did not break so everyone is okay – but we were all very surprised!
