Several politicians will make stops in Reno this weekend.  First, on Saturday, Oct. 25 Senator Barack Obama will speak at Peccole Park on the UNR campus – doors open at 7:30 a.m.  This will be Obama’s first campaign stop after visiting his ill grandmother in Hawaii.  The senator is also anticipated to stop in the Las Vegas area.

On the GOP side, former US Treasurer Rosario Marin will be in Reno Saturday.  She will take part in a business round-table at 11 a.m.  For more information on attending, call the Washoe County Republicans at 827-2008.

The Republicans are also offering the opportunity to meet vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s brother, Chuck Heath Jr.  Heath will take part in a precinct walk beginning at the Scolari’s store on Caughlin Parkway at 10 a.m.  Then at 1 p.m., he’ll be at a BBQ with Representative Dean Heller at McCain Victory HQ at 3702 South Virginia Street (near the Atlantis Hotel).

I want to say that EARLY VOTING has much to recommend it. I just wish campaigning would stop when voting begins.
