Blogging for Bri

I recently heard a reporter ask during a group interview with police if there are plans to increase the reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Brianna Denison's killer.  Currently, the Secret Witness reward stands at $2,500.  Reno Mayor Bob Cashell has announced plans for a news conference in which the community will be asked to contribute to increase the reward amount.

Police have openly referred to Denison's killer as a serial rapist, an animal and a dangerous individual who needs to be caught.

Hundreds of tips have poured in since the Denison case began -- and seemingly the entire community is looking for the suspect.  Despite all the efforts of the community and police, no suspect has been identified.

Do you think a greater reward will lead to that crucial tip that solves this case?  Would you contribute, or do you think the money should come from somewhere else?

The Reno Police Department and University of Nevada Reno, Police are attempting to locate and interview University of Nevada students who attended a house party in the 500 block of College Drive on January 19th, 2008. The party lasted until the early morning hours of January 20th, 2008. Detectives would like to speak with these students reference the ongoing murder investigation of Brianna Denison. Students who attended this party between the hours of 10:00 pm and 4:00 am are encouraged to call Reno Police Detective Phil Scichilone at 334-2188. Thank you for any and all assistance you can provide.

I honestly think that the police needs to back off for a minute and think more careful. They are swabbing hundreds of people weekly and not match. My in law was swabbed just because he sold his truck a week ago. I think the police are chasing a very inaccurate sketch. The girl that gave the sketch was too drunk to even remember. Sit back and think, wait for his mistake, it won't be long. How about taking the girl truck shopping? She may remember the exact type of truck if Police sit her inside different trucks that "fit" the description. Perhaps, it will come back to her, and more details can be brought out from her memory. His own DNA will come back to hunt him sooner than later.

In my opinion there should not have to be a reward to give pepole the incentive to help other humanbeings out. Money is not everything!

I'm just wondering why it always has to take money for people to DO THE RIGHT THING. If you have a tip that could help catch a potential criminal why do you have to be rewarded with money to give that tip. As a human being shouldn't you do the right thing without having to be rewarded with money. We wondering were our society has gone wrong. I would say this is a beginning. Everything is about the god almighty dollar, well i think it needs to turn back to the god almighty doing the right thing. So do I think a greater amount of money might help, sadly it's possible, would I contribute, most surely would, this animal needs to be stopped! Do I think it is the right thing to do, definitely not I think people just need to quit being so damn greety and just do what they should do with the reward of gratification they help prevent another potential hell for a family, a community and a state! Come on people!

Posted by: Rose Is the rumor true about that they think the guy who was involved with Bri's kidnapping works at The Red Lobster? And what about the arrest they made today 3/3/08 of the guy who tried to kidnap the woman on Sat night? When will they have the dna match?

Posted by: Glenn Owen Location: Texas
You can bet RPD will not make any statements until they have a dna match. Expect many rumors and it wouldn't surprise me if someone confesses who had nothing to do with the murder. Just about every high profile murder case I've been involved with someone confesses who had nothing to do with the murder. Does anyone remember John Mark Karr? KEEP US INFORMED RANDY.

I moved to Reno for grad school and fell in love with Reno. I loved going to UNR and felt safe while there. I am so angered by this guy for robbing that away from students right now. In the ten years though that I have lived here I have never been so proud of Reno, as I am right now in how the community has responded to this terrible tragedy. Makes me proud to be a resident. Although he has raised fear in our community I also feel it has bonded us to get this creep and take back our town. I love this place and pray we catch him for justice for Bri and her family, along with restoring our beautiful Reno with a sense of safety. Bri's family is so strong and I am amazed at all they have done in coming together to solve this horrible crime(s). Keep doing everything in your power to stay safe gals. This community has already lost one to many great women. We have to do it for Bri.

RANDY: im confused...today is WED 2-27...When did this supposedly happen? but NO I havent heard a thing about this and i am following this story to THE LETTER....I WISH IT WERE TRUE THOUGH. Ipray they find this SOB ASAP!

Posted by: Randy Location: Reno NV
I understand that last night WED 2-27 a police officer leaked that someone was in custody but that DNA was being checked to make sure they had the right guy before the blow up a public mess and it was the wrong guy. However the "wife" turned him in after her panties were shown on TV. Has anyone else heard this?

They should have had dna match by now Dylan. But that's the kind of mistake this punk will make one day.

Keep us informed Dylan.

Reno Police found a clue at the site. It was insurance information that could have fallen out of a vehicle. RPD paid the guy a visit at work (he is a firefighter) and had him submit DNA samples but he said he was on shift at the time of her abduction.

I am sickened by Brianna's tragic death, and I know I hope and Prey that the animal out there is caught and brought to justice quickly. Although it's such a tragedy, I know that Brianna is with the Lord, and is happy. I lost my nephew of eighteen last year, and although we cannot understand why things happen the way they do, we must all have faith in the Lord. This killer we bought to justice by God, and this young beautiful Girl is now happy and carefree in heaven. We will all get there sooner or later, some sooner and some later. Have faith in our Lord, for we all belong to the Lord, and he can take us at anytime. My heart goes out to the family of Brianna and her friends. Again, may the disgusting animal be found and put out of its misery as soon as possible. Mary

I was saddened to hear about the tragic end to Brianna's beautiful life. My heart and prayers go out to each and every one of you. As a community that has come together during this tragedy we will find the animal that did this to your beautiful daughter! May she rest in peace!

I wanted to send deepest sympathy and condolences to Bri's Friends and Family. Bri will always be in my heart I look at her pictures and I see my baby sister, Cousin and bestfriend. It's true when they say she is now like a daughter to us all. I will put up blue ribbins for Bri everyday after work and on my weekend until we find that sick, sorry, awful and heartless pig of a man. To the Denison Family you are in my prayers and in my heart always.

My heart goes out to the Denison family and my deepest sympathy and condolences is with them. I know personally what it's like to lose a family member to murder. My baby sister was murdered in 1992 in South Florida and it is still unsolved. I pray that this sick (expletive) is found soon and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

I pray for the family and friends that they find their inner strength in whatever they believe to move on to build bridges, as difficult as that is, rather than tear down bridges. The Lord takes in mind our losses, he may take a life for a life, but the peace that comes from the Lord is also secure inside the soul, only it must be accepted. I pray for swift prosecution with a swift final disposition of the case as to the persecutor(s) of our beloved Brianna.

WBC is not welcome here in Reno. They need to keep their narrow minds in Kansas. If they protest, I will protest....My god is a loving god. He is the only one worthy of judging anybody or anything. I do not believe god would or could hate anyone. He gave his only son because of the love he has for all of us. WBC be prepared Reno will not tolerate your judgments. I have been looking at your website and think your beliefs are sad and un loving. Our #1 job here on earth is to love others not hate! Shame on you WBC

My deepest sympathy to all her family and friends. The westboro baptist church has announced a protest at Bri's funeral. All I have to say to them is that they better be careful--they are not welcome in Reno. They are sick people.

I have followed this case since the beginning and I have to say that this whole situation is so traumatizing. I have had nightmares and dreams and am afraid to be in my front yard alone. I really wish they would find this guy because I'm afraid to live normally. I go to college and am scared to walk anywhere. Every person I pass I am looking to see if they look like that sketch. Every S.U.V or extended cab truck I see, I'm looking for clues. This case has completely taken over my life for the past month. I can’t get it out of my head. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, but I’m a young mother of two and I’m scared for the safety of myself and the other women of Reno. Especially after hearing what the profiler had to say. That he does not target women he targets A WOMAN. That is really scary!! I feel like carrying a gun everywhere I go just to feel safe, but will I be?

Firstly, my deepest sympathy to Bri's family and friends. Just a thought, I have had this thought in my mind ever since her body was found...I am wondering if FBI, or Police, or even volunteers ever thought to set up survielance--whether it be a stake out, or cameras of the area....who knows??? The suspect may show up at the site to check out the area...he is a sick, pathetic man...I don't know, this thought/idea has kept me awake at night---can someone send this comment to the proper personell, so see if this can be done in honor of Bri, and the safety of all women of Reno. Thank you, J

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brianna, her family and friends. I think an 8 mile walk from the UNR address to where Brianna was found would be a heartfelt tribute to Brianna and a way for the community to unite our support. R.I.P. Bri!

So...I presume they found Brianna? It is a shame that she's passed on, but I am glad that the family will get some closure

Maybe the police should check car dealerships and auto repair shops. I know that a few of the night cleaning crew have access to the trucks. They could use a truck and bring it back before anyone notices it is missing. So unless all of the previous victims can all identify the same truck then maybe that is why nobody has come forward with information about this man. If you recently took your truck to a repair shop and it matches the discription, you should call the tip hotline. Your DNA would clear you, if you are innocent.

Yes, WATCHING the prey must be able to live on. The prey planned very carefully when he abducted Brianna say the name "Brianna". But the prey made a hugh mistake and his planning was filled with errors. He left his dna in three different crime scenes. Now it's just a matter of time before the PREY is caught. The PREY may elude police for a year or two but one day BINGO!!!!! Then the prey will loose his wings and be unable to fly. WHAT KINDS OF BIRDS DON'T FLY? "JAIL BIRDS". After the prey looses his wings he will not be able to live because the needle will be inserted in what's left of the wing. All the planning & control will mean nothing say the name Brianna. I ask this of the prey. Was it worth it? Was a few hours of control and pleasure worth it? All that planning and the prey left his dna in 3 different places (DUMB A##). The blood of Christ gives Brianna ever lasting life Mr.Prey. What do you think about those apples? Sincerely Glenn Owen Romans Chap 13.

I wonder why the public is not being shown the missing stuffed animal. Perhaps he gave it to a child; maybe its the child that is missing a shoe or a child related to this kidnapper or even a neighbor. Anyway it could spark an idea from a different angle on this mistery. At this point it would not harm anything.

Hats off to you, your calm thinking and superb planning and prep has paid off. You have shown that you have the power over yourself and all that you see. I can see that your strength has grown, full of energy over others. Like all power, control is key. Honor and pride are our private flag we fly. What greater honor can one have but to allow the prey to survive and live on sharing of our strength, all the time knowing that our honor flag is protected by our machine of planning. Know only this, ending will come to all things. How this end comes requires the very same, planning. Set free your bird, seek out new sights. Give your strength to others, “this” will live on. Say the name, “Brianna, lives on” she will tell your story.
